What is TurboShelf?
A Mac menu bar app for the snippets, links, images, files and folders you reuse. Press Option-Space in any app, and the items you reuse in that app come first. Press Return to paste.
How does it decide what goes on top?
It counts only real reuse from TurboShelf: when you paste with Return or copy with Command-Return in the app you opened it from. Saving, selecting or searching for an item does not count. Your pins, for one app or for every app, come first in suggestions.
Is it a clipboard history?
No. TurboShelf does not record what you copy. It holds only the items you save on purpose, with Option-C, Option-L, the Services menu, drag and drop or New Text.
How is it different from pinned clips or snippets?
Pinned clips and snippets stay in the order you set. TurboShelf also holds files, folders and images, reorders them for the app in front and shows why an item is on top. Your own pins still come first.
Does it know which website I’m on?
No. TurboShelf ranks by app, not by website or tab. A web app in Safari counts as Safari.
Can I change the shortcuts?
Yes. Open the TurboShelf menu bar menu, choose Keyboard Shortcuts, and pick new keys for Open, Save Copy and Link. You can also turn Link off.
What is the difference between Save Copy and Link?
Save Copy (Option-C) keeps an independent copy inside TurboShelf. Link (Option-L, in Finder) points to the original file or folder, so you always paste its current version while the original is available. A link is not a backup.
Why does it ask for Accessibility permission?
To paste into another app and to save your selection, TurboShelf asks macOS for permission to send keystrokes. It sends only Copy and Paste, and only when you press Return or a save shortcut. It never reads your typing, and it doesn’t read other apps’ content through Accessibility. The setup window walks you through it; if TurboShelf doesn’t pick up the permission right away, quit and reopen it.
Does anything leave my Mac?
Your items never do. There is no account and no cloud sync, and text recognition runs on your Mac. To keep Pro unlocked, TurboShelf contacts RevenueCat while it runs, for example when it starts and when you buy or restore. It sends an anonymous ID and basic technical details, never your items. Apple handles the payment. Details are in the privacy policy.
Which Macs does it run on?
Macs with Apple silicon and macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Apple Intelligence is not required.
What do Free and Pro include?
Free has every feature for up to 25 saved items. TurboShelf Pro removes the limit with one in-app purchase, $9.99 in the U.S. There is no subscription.
Where can I get it?
TurboShelf is coming soon to the Mac App Store. TurboShelf is on the Mac App Store. It is not offered in the EU storefronts or China mainland.
